Dreamworks reveals first films rendered on Linux

Linux started at Dreamworks as servers for rendering—clustered computational power that was far less expensive than mainframes and proprietary OSes. Over time, Linux would become the standard for everything from rendering to desktop animation. Shrek and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron were the first films rendered on Linux servers. Others (like Kung Fu Panda) would follow.
