Ok, so use tftp/dhcp or yaboot. You get the point.

The mixing is _already_ prohibited unless you do http installs with a
cdrom inserted which includes a stage2.img that matches the initrd. That
corner case will soon be gone, one way or another, as it is perceived by
most to be a bug.

The only point under discussion is requiring .discinfo to be in the tree
as opposed to other methods of ensuring the tree matches the boot media.
