Hi,

[PreS: Please bear with this long story]

I am trying to install Centos 5.2 on my (overly partitioned) machine.
Anaconda throws following exception after all the installation
options
are specified, when anaconda starts installing packages.
( The anaconda version is 11.1.2.113-1.el5 )

Error:
"Error: Error Informing the kernel about modification to partition
/dev/sda5 -- Device or resource busy.
This means Linux won't know about any changes you made to /dev/sda5
until you reboot -- so you
shouldn't mount it or user it in any way before rebooting."

Just by looking at the error I can tell you that this is a parted bug. Mind you, I have not read the whole story (so I could be wrong), but I'll bet you that this is related to 441244, which is fixed for 5.3.

If you can't wait until then, you could try
1. Partitioning it in Fedora and just using existing partitions.
2. If that doesn't work, partition it in Fedora, installing somewhere else and cloning manually. Tedious, doesn't scale well, but works (and good practice for when you have to install i bigger and/or newer disk).
3. Add a new drive and try the simple case with that.

A segfault is always a bug.
