Please be aware that the NetGear doesn't work at least in the sx
motherboard (which is all I've tried it in). Transceiver doesn't detect. I
tried compiling the driver as a module and forcing it to lock into 10BT
mode, but that didn't help.  I had other issues to work out so I didn't
bother further (I just scavenged a DE500 from an Intel machine and swapped
it for the NetGear, which works just fine on the Intel machine). Some time
when I have a few spare minutes I need to try the latest Tulip driver with
it and see if it fixes the problem, but spare minutes are hard to find. 

My list of things to look into on the Alpha architecture just keeps
growing and growing :-}. Anybody installing Linux on a cast-off Alpha has
my sympathy -- it's hard enough gathering a compatible array of hardware
when you have complete control over what goes into the box.
