   I get the same thing on the serial console that I would using a monitor 
plugged into the video card. I get all of the SRM output, including the boot 
prompts, all of the kernel messages once it has been loaded and then a login 
prompt once the machine is ready to accept logins. Everything is the same as 
if I had been using the monitor with the console set to "graphics". I can't 
explain how other than to suggest you try what I used. Are you using Milo? 
Maybe that's the reason.
