RPM of the latest version of xpdf, with assorted bug fixes and for
Alpha with glibc, was submitted to "contrib" on Red Hat in April, or so.
If you want a support for "encrypted" PDFs you will have to do yourself
due to infamous "munitions" US regulations. Full instructions in sources
(also available as RPM).
As far as ghostscript and "encrypted" PDFs go - if you will try to
use it you will get an error message instructing you to retrieve
one file from a server in Australia and to replace with it the one
which produced this message. You just have to do what it says. :-)
