Hi All,
I just compiled my first kernel..time was right at 15 mins (is this
acceptable? I did not gzip it). This is a Cabriolet (Alpha PC64) with
only 32M of RAM. I didn't watch the process to see how much was
swapping.
I had posted earlier about my PPP connection being dropped after I
established a serial connection and IP address:
Nov 28 12:03:58 localhost pppd[513]: serial connection established
Nov 28 12:03:58 localhost pppd[513]: Using interface ppp0
Nov 28 12:03:58 localhost pppd[513]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
Nov 28 12:04:00 localhost pppd[513]: local IP address 216.28.52.21
Nov 28 12:04:00 localhost pppd[513]: remote IP address 206.103.241.85
Nov 28 12:04:34 localhost pppd[513]: CCP: timeout sending
Config-Requests
Nov 28 12:04:45 localhost pppd[513]: Connection terminated.
When I was in "make config" there was a statement "CCP compressors for
PPP are only built as modules". There were no options for me to choose.
Any ideas?
TIA
jeff
