In order to do this, one needs the DU shared libraries. Getting
them is up to you; they're under a (fairly) tight DU license. If you
already have them, though, this shouldn't be a problem. Just make a
directory called /usr/shlib and drop all the libraries there. Then put
/sbin/loader from the DU box into /sbin/ on the linux box.
Then you can just grab the DU netscape rpms from my machine:
ftp://prophet.dodds.net/RPMS/alpha/. Log in as user 'rpm', email add. as
password (it's anonymous ftp). You need netscape-common, and either
netscape-navigator or netscape-communicator (the former is the standalone
browser, the latter is the full suite). You can also install them all if
you'd like.
Install the packages (rpm -i netscape*).
Run. (bash$ netscape)
There are upsides and downsides. The upside is that it's native
alpha code. The downside is that it's a memory hog: although it uses
shared libraries, those libraries are only shared by other DU programs.
For someone like me, whose only major DU program is netscape... it often
seems like it's using a very large amount.
Enjoy!
