compiling 2.0.36

OK I'm starting to get flustrated here, download fresh kernel sources, and
apply the patches.  Do a make config, and specify everything!!  then make
depend, ok, no problems, then make boot, results

I never had this trouble with 2.0.34!!!  It compiled with NO problems at
all.  Any suggestions?
