Re: Soundblaster?

With regards to your message at 01:36 PM 12-29-98 -0800, Geordy. Where you

Possibly the easiest solution, albeit one that costs money ($20) is the one
from 4front Technologies:
http://www.opensound.com/alphalinux.html

To quote from there:
Open Sound System for AlphaLinux

What's OSS/AlphaLinux v3.9.1i announced (December 22, 1998)
Now available for 2.0.34, 2.0.35 and 2.0.36 for 21066, 21064 and 21164
based motherboards.
Support for Digi32 PRO audio soundcards and many others added.
Support for Ensoniq AudioPCI and SB PCI/64!
Support for S3 Sonic Vibes (Turtle Beach Daytona PCI)
Support for SoftOSS
Support for Plug-n-Play (PnP) sound cards

Important Notes:
Due to architectural differences there are two distinct distributions - one
for Noname (21066/21068), one for Cabriolet/Avanti (21064) and another for
LX164/SX164 (21164) based systems. Please note that OSS may have problems
on other Alpha designs like the Miata/UDB etc. Due to limited machine
accessibility, we are unable to test OSS on ALL Alpha workstations.

In my experience it works very well with PnP Soundblaster cards and
Audiotrix cards.
