I have a Sound blaster 16 on my LX - the way I got it to work was:

  1) Put in a PC and use Creatives software to configure/read its IRQ/base
addresses/DMAs

  2) Put in your Alpha and put those values in when you build the
kernel/load the module.

I've presently got it running on Linux 2.2.0-pre1 with the AXP patch.

The thing to watch out for is getting the IRQ wrong - for reasons I dont
understand if you get the IRQ wrong all IRQs below 16 stop working - e.g.
keyboard, mouse and probably any other ISA cards - but PCI devices (which
on the LX and I guess UX, have higher IRQs) carry on working - so you can
telnet into your machine via a PCI ether adapter to shut it down cleanly
etc.
I wish that didn't happen!

Dave
