I have to echo Jeff's comments and add a bit of history:  From the page
www.opensound.com/contacts.html, one of the founding partners is
Hannu Savolainen, who pretty much wrote the linux sound drivers since
before 1.0 came out.  While I've been able to do just fine with
the kernel drivers based upon his work, I would have no compunctions
at all with buying their product!
