I tried in the past on EB64+ a "generic" kernel from Richard and it
at least booted. More recently I was checking this option with one
of development kernels (I think that this was 2.1.126) an my machine
locked instantly even if a "board specific" kernel was fine. That kind
"loss of speed" was for me a bit excessive :-) and that why I assumed
that this issue is now on a back burner.
One "installation kernel" for all boards would be nice but, I am afraid,
we suffer on Linux/Alpha from too many "speed tradeoffs" already for
this to be really acceptable for a "production kernel".
I guess that I should try again - maybe with some of 2.2.0pre?
