Kernel compile

I am trying to compile a new kernel, but everythime it gets to the de4x5.c
file it gives me this error:

de4x5.c(.text+0x2e3c): undefined reference to 'pcibios_read_config_dword'

thne the compiler ends with:

make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1

This kernel just doesn't want to compile with the de4x5 module selected.  It
will complete if i don't select this module, but I need it for my ethernet
card.  Can anybody help?
