root login

hi

i just got to the end of my 4th Mulita sysgen using the rh 5.0
cdroms.  this is the first one that got to the end ok.
all previous failed while installing the last few componants.

i did run on one of the others briefly.

now i can't login.  the pwd i gave for root is ng.  do i just 
start over, or is there a security hole i can enter??

the only anomoly i see is that the startup sits on sendmail
for about 5 minutes before continuing.
