thanks brian... i guess you saw my next msg...

i have a much bigger problem.  when i format with 'druid'
i get sda1 and sda2 then extended sda5-8.  everything installs
as usual.  then i shutdown and reboot.  sda5-8 are GONE!!!!!
i had made a 10mb partition for MILO as well.

they stay gone, even if i do a cold re-boot.

so i can't keep a system across a re-boot.  poor me.
