Hi Caleb.
The easiest way is to prepare a FAT format floppy with the lx164srm.rom,
lx164nt.rom, and fwupdate.exe files on it.
Insert the floppy.
Set jumper JF7 to the on position.
Turn on the machine.
It will beep once, twice, 3 times, then load the fwupdate from the floppy
and AlphaBIOS will load and come up from the floppy.
Then you go the the setup menu with <F2> and select the firmware to update
to from the scroll-down selector.
Follow the prompts.

I believe the files are availalbe from DEC.
Of course to use SRM you have to pay for it..
Cheapest way to buy a license for SRM is to buy the Alpha EBSDK & Firmware
Up Kit,
 DEC part number: QR-21B02-03
Current rev I believe is 4.0

Contact me privately if this is of further interest...
