Yes, but what if you have some binaries in libc5 format and are using a
glibc2 machine ?? There should be no problem combining libc5 (for
backwards compatibility) and glibc2. I just want the libc5-stuff to be in
a RPM, so I shouldn't have to use rpm -nodeps. (And to save some time, did
you ever tried to compile (g)libc on an UDB ??)

If you read the Errata-file for RedHat 5.0 then you'll see a link to a RPM
(possibly) containing libc5 for RedHat 5.0 . Unfortunately that link is
broken :(
