Yes, I have 2.1.101 running nicely here on an SX164.

I only hand patched the __builtin_memset lines from string.h, as has
been mentioned here previously, and commented out the SMP line in the
makefile. No other patches applied.
The kernel was compiled with ecgs-1.0.2.
I am also using the NCR53c8xx and Tulip drivers. The NCR53c8xx driver was
compiled into the kernel (for my boot drive) and the Tulip driver compiled
as a module.
Initially I compiled a 'non-modular' kernel, then compiled the new
modutils, then compiled a new kernel using modules for just about
everything. I don't know whether this was absolutely necessary, but the
documentation seemed to suggest that it was. (Perhaps this is the "trick").
