Red Hat Software Technical Support Job Openings

Red Hat Software is seeking to hire several technical support
engineers. If you are self-motivated, resourceful with excellent
communication skills and you surprise even yourself with the seemingly
worthless Linux hardware and software arcana you can recite, then we
want to talk to you!
Job Description and Qualifications
----------------------------------
The job provides support to customers with problems encountered
installing and using Red Hat Linux and our associated
products across Intel, DEC Alpha and Sun SPARC hardware.
Support enquries range from hardware configuration at the installation
level through to complex software and network configurations (such as
sendmail, samba, IP Firewalling etc).
In addition, support engineers are responsible for building and
maintaining support documents and systems, and working in a team
environment on projects concerning the support department. Some travel
to attend computer events may be necessary.
The positions are in RTP (Research Triangle Park), North Carolina. RTP
is at the center of Durham, Chapel Hill, and Raleigh (the state
capital).
Successful applicants will be required to relocate to the
RTP area.
These are salaried positions with the salary being determined by the
successful applicant's qualifications, knowledge and experience. Red Hat

Essential position criteria
---------------------------
Applicants must possess:-
- a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, preferably Computer
Science;
- 2 years Linux/Unix system-level experience (Red Hat Linux experience
a plus);
- extensive Intel PC hardware knowledge;
- superior analytical and problem-solving skills;
- excellent oral and written communication skills;
- a proven commitment to the highest quality customer service;
- a proven ability to work in a team environment.
Desirable position criteria
---------------------------
Although these are not required, applicants meeting some or all of the
following criteria will be advantaged in the selection process:-
- DEC Alpha and Sun SPARC hardware knowledge and experience;
- prior experience in Unix technical support (including telephone based
support);
- ability to adapt quickly and successfully to changing work
organisation and stuctures.
