I have experimented a little with my ASUS SC875 SCSI with which I had
trouble before, and these are my results right now:
My problem was that I could not run my Ultra wide Seagate Barracuda at
full speed in my setup which included both internal wide and narrow
devices. This could be fixed by running it asynchronous (but this fix was
not totally reliable, I later experienced).
I have now come to the conclusion that the problem has something to do
with my narrow devices/cables/termination since the Barracuda works
happily using Ultra/Wide if I simply remove all narrow devices so the
controller automatically turns on its internal termination.
If anyone got the impression that the ASUS controller is not working well,
I want to say right now that I have no evidence for this, and as far as I
know the ASUS controller works very well. And I'm not selling them! :)
/Andreas
