glibc1.99 -> glibc2

  Dear AXPers,

  I am using RedHat 4.2 on my Alpha box right now. LSL's mozilla and few
other things are urging me to upgrade to 5.0 but one outstanding project
which heavily depends on libc keeps me on 4.2.

  My question is: Is libc 1.99 I have on my 4.2 box closer to glibc 2 or to
libc5 ? I think libc-1.99 in RH 4.2 is "almost 2.0" from 5.0. Am I correct?
I don't have any RedHat 5.0 handy to verify this.
