I've seen that with other kernels as well but never spent really time
to track it down.  Most likely some bug in tcl, or python, or both,
or maybe in a driver?  A simple workaround is to run individual components
separately calling them from a command line as that what all this
stuff is really about. :-)  You will find easily what they are by
peeking into /usr/lib/rhs/control-panel/.

Even simpler workaround is to grab editor and edit configuration files
yourself. :-)  This actually is required in some situations.  For
example - 'printtool' is passable if you are dealing with local printers
and you are willing to accept printer filters which this will produce.
If your printers are remote you do not really have much choice although
you may start pretending that your printers are local and, despite of
dire and misguided warnings,  editing resulting /etc/printcap and its
filters.
