I've seen sporatic messages about mystery hang ups
with late dev kernels on Alpha. (Nothing in the logs,
no evidence, no signs of panic.) I'm running 2.1.102
on an LX, RedHat5.0, glibc2.0.7b3, egcs1.0.3, binutils2.9.0.1,
and experiencing random hangups at
intervals from 4 to 8 days. Three questions:
1. In your collective experience, is this widespread, isolated to certain
configurations, or am I the only one?
2. Any body have ideas about causes, or Alt-SysReq dumps of
this type of hang? (I still haven't caught it when out
of X. Co-workers have, but they don't know about Alt-SysReq
or have interrest.)
3. Are the latest Alan Cox/2.0.X maintained kernels more solid
on this hardware? (I'm willing, though it pains me greatly,
to give up some speed for stability.)
(To prevent a flood of "me-too" messages, please reply to
me directly.)
Gracias,
-Paul
