The question is: what do you want with dhcp?
If you want a dhcp server, I have no idea whether or not that is supported.
If you want a dhcp client (ie. you have a cable modem or somesuch), then
there are two situations:
1) You have a 2.0.X kernel--The stock dhcpcd should work
2) You have a 2.1.X kernel--You need a different version of dhcpcd.
The one I have is a hacked version of dhcpcd called 1.3.6 such that it
works with 2.1.X where X >= 96. The version I have is dhcpcd-1.3.6.
Here is the mail message:
I've hacked on the 1.3.6 dhcpcd source code and come up with
something that seems to work reliably under recent 2.1 kernels
on Alpha (it may well work on x86 too, but I haven't tried it).
It isn't pretty, but it works for me. Available at
ftp://ftp.blighty.com/pub/dhcpcd-1.3.6sra.tar.gz
I'm unclear as to what half the code does, so I've no intention
of supporting it. Share and Enjoy.
Cheers,
Steve
