Hi,
I think the result of previous questions about whether RH were using
EGCS for compiling RH5.1 itself was yes for applications. (If I'm
wrong please correct me).
Anyway, as far as I can tell using the latest hot off the press EGCS
to built XFree for my Matrox produces corrupted text fonts when I exit
X. This has always happened with EGCS, but I'd hoped the latest
XFree patches (which I applied) would have cured this (they mention
fixes for build problems in GCC 2.8.1). If this is the case what have
RH done for RH5.1?
While were on the RH/EGCS question - if they have used EGCS which
processor was it configured for?
(Incidentally the latest EGCS (with its new optimisations) appears to
produce code slightly slower than its immediate predecessor; and like its
previous predecessor also ABORTs (Sig 6) when trying to build Povray).
Dave
