Come on--go easy on me. This is a rather unfriendly response. I'm not
expecting this number to have intrinsic meaning, and I *HAVE* read the
BogoMIPS HOWTO (several times, in fact). From what I understand of the
BogoMIPS calculation, thought it should not fluctuate that much--that is,
it is a fairly consistent timing calculation that should be repeatable.
My question was more of an academic one--why would I get different values
with different compiles of the same kernel? I guess I should have prefaced
that my question was academic--I know there are people for whom the BogoMIP
topic is sensitive.
