I tried to add a plain vanilla IDE controller (ISA) to an AS200 and
plugged in a HD from another system (DOS format). It ran fine under NT.
Linux initially found the controller and drive and read everything
correctly. However, later in the boot process, it indicates a busy
status for the drive, then goes into an endless loop of resetting the
controller and trying to access the disk, ending in timeouts.
Is there something I'm missing in adding the drive? Shouldn't you just
be able to install the IDE drive, boot and mount the unit?
