I tried 2.1.102 on Linux/AXP (also based on RH-5.1) and it sucked (sorry)
for me, too.  Some programs segfaulted (strace in particular) and the
UNIX98 pty's only worked for ssh(!), which was compiled quite awhile ago
against glibc-2.0.7.  Installing the packages (which were from
rawhide.redhat.com) also broke my resolver, even after I reverted to 2.0.7.
Then I tried patching up to 103, but the patches didn't apply cleanly.
Finally, I tried compiling 103 from scratch with a freshly downloaded tar
file and it bombed about 45mins into the compile.  I threw in the towel.
If you do get a prerelease working on AXP, please post here though and let
us know; I'd like to try again.
