Either you want to fix it or you don't. Fixing it
means altering you system. That kernel is real old.
so I'd think you need to upgrade the whole thing
at once.

I tried DnD with NS on my Intel displayed on my Alpha
by dragging a message from the Communicator window
to a Message Center folder and it worked OK.
I'm running NS 4.04 so it's not quite the
same. Also running 2.1.115 or so kernel on the
Alpha.
