pppd problem/RedHat 5.1

Hi all,

I have this problem with setting up a ppp connection to my ISP. What happens
is, the modem dials, establishes a connection, then a lil bit of nothing,
and the connection is dropped again. It seems that it fails on the
authorisation part, but i cant figure out how/what/why. I have tried it on a
similar machine, with a different modem, same result. Im stuck!

My config:
Alpha XL-266
Red Hat 5.1 Alpha 'Manhattan'
External ISDN on COM2/CUA1

Second machine:
Alpha XL-266
Red Hat 5.1 Alpha 'Manhattan'
External 56k on COM2/CUA1

Both systems go wrong, apparently at the same moment, trying to connect to
different ISP's.

Can somebody please try to shine some light on this/hand a solution, cause
im just about ready trash this puter. :-)
