fvwm, or fvwm2? Although I normally run Enlightenment, I have had
occasion to use fvwm2 (set up to look like Windoze... ick) on my sx164. I
have a Millennium II w/4MB vram. And I always run at 32bpp.
Can you run other window managers at either of those resolutions?
What kernel are you using? Which X server?
One of the releases of the X server had a problem with select.
This _may_ (I'm not sure, but it may) be the problem you're running into.
There are many places to get a fixed server, one of which is
ftp://data.microway.com/ (the one I got).
