Agree with that one. Most of the portable code allready has to deal
with the old bsd/sysv differnces, and the various "compatibility"
#defines ( I recently found out that SIGIOT and SIGABRT wer equal)
Yes, it wil split up the #ifdef linux bits, but most of the code
already has to test for _alpha_ et al.
The binary compatibility has some historical background in the fact
that linus crosdeveloped on OSF/1.
Let's not waste people's time on this one. If you're really interested repost
into a newsgroup.
