Unpacking Alpha RPMs on an Intel Box

I'm trying to set up my UDB as an X-Terminal. I got as far as getting the
UDB to grab the kernel off of bootp/tftp and booting, and even the initial
NFS mounting of the root partition...

But I'm not quite sure what RPMs I need to install, and how I need to do
it. I tried just installing the "base" packages (from
RedHat/base/comps...) and I had to use --ignorearch and --noscripts to get
them to install on my Intel box (NFS server)...

I've gaged so far that you can't do a vanilla RedHat install onto a
remotely mounted root partition via NFS. Fine. But how do I do it then?
When I use --noscripts I think the RPMs aren't being set up correctly,
because INIT freaks out due to it's inability to find libraries.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks in Advance,
