Not an Alpha only problem per say. Just a 64 bit problem in
the code. Look at the referenced URL in previous notes and
you can read what the programmer fixed. The code foolishly assumes
there are 32bits in fd_set structure elements, which is
not true under 64 bit Linux. Has anyone used the 64 bit Sparc
Linux port and does it suffer the same problem??

Lot's of codes have these sorts of assumptions in them so
they will be broken when one attempts to port them to
Alpha Linux until they get corrected. Mozilla comes to mind
as another example of the problem.
