More info on my alpha FB situation..

I'm running redhat 6.0, and compiled kernel 2.2.13 ..

If I compile with the FB support and the TGA selected, then I cannot
run X windows.. If I compile without FB support..  then my machine just
doesn't boot up.. It takes about 45 minutes to compile, so can someone
help me before I waste my night on it because i'm doing something dumb?

right now i'm trying to compile with fb support, but with tga as a module..

is there anything else I should try? like just installing with fb/tga, but
without vga console support?
