Earlier this year, someone updated the ESS driver to support more
chipsets. It had been in the -ac branch, but was migrated to the
main tree a couple releases ago. Alan put me in contact with the
guy who updated the driver, and we came up with a working
solution. Specify the prm esstype=1688 when inserting sb.o
on your Miata should yield a working driver.
