RH6.1 Installation dies

Hi,
    I decided to start from scratch and nuked my hard drive to install
RH6.1 from scratch. I am able to start the installation program but in
graphical mode, it stops after partitioning (by switching virtual
consoles, I was able to see that it was a problem with X
authentication). In text mode, everything goes fine (including the
partitioning) until the part when it starts to install. It gives me
signal 11 (what is that) and then quits. Any suggestions?
