Yes, you can run "rpm" to install whatever packages you want
after installing a base system.
Most likely though, you need to build your own kernel for
your system and replace the tulip.c file with the latest
from Donald Becker's site. The built-in 21142 chips require
the latest driver or they behave badly. I would seriously
consider using a local cd/cdrom to install. Just did 7 DS10's
that way for RH6.0 without trouble. (then replaced tulip.o so
network worked)
I don't know why the kernel still uses the older tulip but
it's a pain in the butt for me since I always need the latest
one.
