Yeh, on my LX board with an IBM 7200RPM 34GB Ultra 66 drive I get about
12MB/s off the CMD646 on board (19% CPU) and only got about 9MB/s off the
Promise. I'm not sure what the problem is, but I can only presume it is
the driver? This presumption is based on:
1) I presume someone somewhere has this controller running fast - or
they could never sell it???
2) You are now saying you had the same problem on Intel, so it sounds
like it isn't an Alpharism.
(This was under Linux 2.3.14 a few months ago; since it is my only
drive it is a pain for me now to try with the Promise on newer versions).
