double slash under Alpha

I noticed the following ( RH6.1, linux-2.2.13):

% grep // /proc/net/unix

fffffc0002c44e80: 00000000 00000000 00010000 0001 01  1877 /tmp//kfm_501_1399cv209095-a_0.0

Why double slash?
