i have exactly the same problem!
rpd told me:
"think you may be in trouble there, as far as I know only the SRM for the
later series of machines supports adaptec controllers. You can try getting
the latest for that box, should be in:
ftp://ftp.digital.com/pub/DEC/Alpha/firmware/
or you'll have to boot from the floppy/CDROM/symbios card."
so i did - but i got on trouble with the fw upgrade!
it seems to be easy out of
AlphaBIOS
or
ARC
console. this is described well in the docs.
BUT HOW CAN I BUILD A FW UPGRADE DISK IN REDHAT LINUX FOR THE SRM
CONSOLE!!!???
it is just described (and there are utilities for that) how to do it in
NT, OpenVMS and DigitalUNIX.
it is not explained for linux.
i think that it must be a simple 'dd' command with the correct files.
BUT WHAT FILES???
the docu about SRM and Linux is a pain!
- can anyone help?
- has anyone done that before?
