Unfortunately, netboot is exactly what I want do do :-) Even my 21143 based card is
recognized under Linux and NetBSD just fine. The reason I am using Decchip
based cards is that they are usually supported via SRM. Also, I am aware that there
are several ways of getting Linux ( or whatever ) to boot on the Alphas, but I need
the bootp or tftp stuff.

Do you happen to run the DE500-BA on the PC164 SRM setup like mine ? See, what I am
looking for is a 'success' message like "my XYZ 100MBit card gets recognized by my
5.5-1 SRM on a PC164". I could then go off and get this card. I just want to make sure, that
there is no generic ethernet .vs.SRM problem on my PC164. AFAIK, this platform was never
intended to run any form of SRM in the first place. It was just released lately by Compaq for
whatever reason ( for Linux *BSD users' convenience ? Thanx Compaq ... ;-)

Nope :-)
