I get this when I boot my AlphaPC164LX:
kernel: (scsi0) <Adaptec AHA-294X Ultra SCSI host adapter> found at PCI 5/0
kernel: (scsi0) Wide Channel, SCSI ID=7, 16/255 SCBs
kernel: (scsi0) Warning - detected auto-termination
kernel: (scsi0) Please verify driver detected settings are correct.
kernel: (scsi0) If not, then please properly set the device termination
kernel: (scsi0) in the Adaptec SCSI BIOS by hitting CTRL-A when prompted
kernel: (scsi0) during machine bootup.
kernel: (scsi0) Cables present (Int-50 NO, Int-68 NO, Ext-68 YES)
kernel: (scsi0) Downloading sequencer code... 419 instructions downloaded
kernel: scsi0 : Adaptec AHA274x/284x/294x (EISA/VLB/PCI-Fast SCSI) 5.1.10/3.2.4
kernel: <Adaptec AHA-294X Ultra SCSI host adapter>
Now, it never prompts me, and ctrl-a doesn't seem to do anything.
I'm guessing that only works on an x86? In any case,
A) How can I make this message go away?
I have both an external MO disk and a regular external HD (in addition to
the internal one), and there's a terminator on the end of the chain.
(Removing it has no effect.) Are there some jumpers I need to fiddle with
on the inside?
B) Would this explain why my machine locks up sometimes?
I've gotten a machine check, a bus reset, and random lockups during
disk access (though it has even happened during _floppy_ access). But
this is the only thing I can think of. It never mattered before,
with 2.0.x, but 2.1.x/2.2.x seems to be a bit more picky.
