I just had an interesting experience..
I was reading something in netscape and the screen froze. I went to
another machine and successfully logged in. Top said X was eating 98%
cpu. I killed xdm and X but the console didnt come back up -- still the
same frozen image from my now nonexistent X session. After restarting xdm
everything came back up and seems to be working normally. I've never had
anything like this happen before. The machine is an lx164 with
kernel 2.1.131
XFree86-libs-3.3.2.3-20
XFree86-SVGA-3.3.1-14
and an 8 mb MM II
any ideas?
Jonathan
