Yes, 2.2.2ac1 built and booted just fine on my Miata using the
-nonx86 patch.
Maybe I'm just blazingly stupid or something, but I did not
realize that the sound drivers in ac1 are not the same as in 2.2.2.
I'm sitting there with headphones on, tea in hand, freshly booted
2.2.2ac1, and fire up mikmod. My eardrums nearly blew out and my keyboard
almost drank a full mug of hot tea.
It appears that the ESS1688 driver in ac1 does not fully support
the chipset - it only recognizes it as a generic 8-bit Sound Blaster.
To compound that problem, it looks like the default volume setting
is maximum.
Treat sound under 2.2.2ac1 'con cuidado' for the time being. Just my
humble opinion.
