An interesting disscussion went on today at the alphant mailing list that somehow got on the topic of DU. Turns out that DEC/Compaq is planning to release a C/C++ compiler for alphalinux. Can anyone else verify this? This would solve our mozzila problems in one shot. It would also make porting DU applications like the JDK to alphalinux easy. See below. Peter Petrakis [Andy Almond] I think that this is *essential* to convince people to pay the price for an ev6 machine. Personal experience tells me that gcc without *serious work* is just not up to the job. What the point in buying an expensive machine for number crunching if the binaries are unoptimised. I would certainly have a problem convincing my superiors to part with the money. Does anyone now how will this would effect fortran compilations?
