I usually use the iX-SSBA benchmark suite. This is a collection
of several benchmarks (dhrystone, whetstone, linpack, bonnie, ...)
set up by a french unix users group and slightly modernized
by the german magazine iX.
I have made the suite available through my web-site. Take a look
at <http://www.xss.co.at/bench>
There you'll also find the results for several Linux and other
*X systems, so you can compare... :-)
The comments are in german (sorry), but it should be quite
obvious, anyway.
