i don't think the have to be supported in the alphabios, as long as you
don't want to boot from the network. i have tested a de500 which is
supported and several other non supported cards, they all worked under
linux.

i used a PCI NE2K (from pine with a 8029 realtek chipset) up to the 2.1.132
kernel and it worked fine.
i also build it with 2.2.0-pre9 but haven't tested it, since i needed the
slot for an isdn card. i now use a old isa ne2k - it also works fine.

i also have a sx164, but i replaced my millenium 2 with a fire gl1000 pro,
but the millenium was still present when i used the realtek card.
