Modem connection to Mindspring problem:   V.90 problem!!!

Mindspring recently upgraded their modem pools to 3Com/USR which does
V.90 (but also supports X2).  The problem is that your modem is
probably NOT doing V.90, but doing the "Other" 56Kb (kflex).  If your
modem were doing v.90, it would work with mindpsring's stuff.
Solution:  upgrade your modem to v.90, if possible (firmware upgrades
are available from some manufacturers, sometimes free, sometimes for fee),
otherwise, get a true v.90 (e.g. as US Robotics....)
Note: other ISP's have not yet upgraded.  Your modem might likely work
with GTE Internet (ISP service), since our Rockwell chip set modems still
work with GTE but not with Mindspring.
